CCHS annually serves more than 1,700 children with special needs from birth to age 21 from South Dakota and surrounding states. Medical services include the Inpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation and Medically Complex programs, and nursing care for residential students in special educational programs. Physical, occupational, and speech therapies are offered from the CCHS Rehabilitation Center at 1100 W. 41st St. in Sioux Falls, which also offers evaluations, orthotics, specialty clinics, and a state-of-the-art assistive technology center. The center also houses Rehabilitation Medical Supply, providing highly specialized medical equipment and supplies for children and adults. Outreach programs, based in Sioux Falls and Rapid City, deliver therapies and education to large numbers of children throughout the state in their homes and schools. In 2001, CCHS opened the state’s first Boundless Playground, offering accessibility exceeding requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. 96 beds
